Pixel Myst
Picked up the Cyan Complete pack on Steam while on winter break – and after fighting to get them to actually run (and be playable) on my Windows 7 laptop, I decided to doodle a scene from Myst Island.
None of these games officially support Windows 7 even though they’re on Steam. I couldn’t get Myst Masterpiece Edition to work, none of the videos would play (which is pretty crucial to being able to finish the game). RealMyst ran, videos worked, but the frame rate in certain areas bogged down horrendously. The fix turned out to be finding the RealMYST.exe and setting it to run in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode – and voilà – framerate issues magically fixed.
